Shelved under Bagatelle, Photographie
I’m currently spending the holidays at home, but I’d rather not be here. I don’t feel good about myself when I’m here, not that I feel particularly great about myself when I’m not here, but still. Plus, there’s been absolutely no substantial snow at all. I mean, most times lately, there hasn’t been loads of snow for actual Christmas, but there’s always been some leading up to it, even snowstorms. This year there hasn’t been even a centimetre (not even in Toronto). Of course, I just checked out the window right now and it’s lightly snowing, but it’s snow-raining, and I won’t be getting my hopes up.
However! At my aunt’s farm further north from here and Toronto they do have a good amount of snow. I’m looking forward to spending a weekend there sometime soon. I’ve always loved The Farm. Also, I did something pretty uncharacteristic of myself and went and bought my first DSLR—the Canon Rebel T3. I’ve wanted a DSLR for a long time, and it was almost $200 off because of the Boxing Day sales, so I did it. It’ll be great to take to The Farm.
At any rate, I’ve decided that I’m going back up to Toronto on January 2nd, which gives me almost a whole week without university there. (But realistically I’ll be attempting to get a head start on some reading…wish me luck, ha.)
And can you believe it? The skating rink isn’t open here. I was expecting it to be, because the city hall rink in Toronto is open, but they cool that one so that it doesn’t matter how unseasonally warm it is in December. I brought my skates for nothing.
Oh, and I also did one other thing that was uncharacteristic of myself: I got highlights and lowlights put into my hair. I’m actually pretty happy with how they turned out. They weren’t colour-changing highlights/lowlights, just to blend with my boring brown shade (really, I never thought it was that boring; I like my hair colour…but it’s always nice to do something new).

So, next week is my last week of my first semester of my first year at ye olde University of Toronto. Which, for me, means two exams and an essay. But, I have a month off afterwards…queue The List:
Things I Want to Do Over the Holidays:
- read some of the books I spent too much money on
- draw/paint/…art in general
- go ice skating!
- go snowshoeing
- make (another) list: resolutions for the New Year (something I don’t normally do)
- get this blog really under way (I was hoping to get it going quicker than this)
I feel like there are one or two more things to add here, but such are lists. You go to make them and never remember quite everything.

Maybe I should begin with telling you that I’m pretty bad at coming up with titles (if you hadn’t already figured that out). So, be forewarned — there are now three things to be certain of in life: death, taxes, and blog titles that go something like “Untitled,” “I Hate Titling Things,” and “Pas de titre.” (Except just kidding, you’ll never see “Pas de titre” because it’s much too original to appear as an actual title here.)
In all seriousness, it feels strange to pick up and start blogging out of nowhere. Do I just launch into what kind of day I had today? If I’m being honest, and I might as well be, if I ever start talking about A Day in the Life, do yourself a favour and skip it. Because A Day in the Life, while a good song, makes for a dull story (at least when it comes to My Life, at least at the moment).
So now, maybe, since I’ve given you such a great background on myself, I should just end the entry here after adding that abrupt endings, too, are a common blogging technique I developed during my other stint having a site. What can I say…it’s going to be some ride¹.
¹ By “some ride” I am referring to the common Carousel Ride, which you can (and possibly will) easily jump off of at any time.
